You tell me...

How do you NOT fall in love with a book that starts out with THIS opening sentence:

"It's a weekday in sunny Los Angeles and I want to rip his dick off."

I mean, how could anyone pass this book up? Not me.

The book is called My Boyfriend Wrote A Book About Me and it is written by Hilary Winston.

Best opening line....ever.

That's quite wonderful. But my favorite first line is still, "When I was little I would think of ways to kill my daddy."
Ellen Foster by Kaye Gibbons.

Did you just start it? I want to know how the entire book is - and I hope that's not the only good line (doubt it is, but I've been fooled before)!

So, does she? In he book, I mean?

Your last post is a tour de force of excellent writing; without going into the subject. Which, in itself, is enough to make me want to know more about you. I'm following.

me tooooooooooo a must have...

i would say the only better opener would be ----> the phone wrang at the wrong time and i had to shoot it! lmao...

nah, yours still tops that.

That line disturbs me. . . Maybe I'm missing something, but that line might cause me to put the book down. Not into dicks or violence right now.

The only thing I'd add to her first line would be . . . "and beat him senseless with it."

well... it's a great line but... one that repels rather than draws me...

but... great works of writing are clear ideas, feelings, stories clearly embodied in words.

i hate crap writing.

but i'm not drawn to every story - even the well-written ones.

i think guilty pleasures are, in fact, the ideas/stories/feelings one likes... but poorly expressed/embodied/manifested.

anyway... enjoy!

what matters is you found something well written that calls to you...
