CHALLENGE

My google analytics tell me that I have more than 500 people per day reading my blog. So..I am curious. What kind of people read me? Three questions. All you need to do is answer them. If you don't want to tell me who you are, just sign off anonymously. But, I am curious.

1) What is one word that describes you? Just one. Ok. Two at the most. No..three.

2) Where do you live and do you like it? (You can be cagey, just say "midwest" or "yankee", etc.)

3) What is one of your favorites? (Book, movie, song, quote...you pick)

I want to know who is out there.

So...WHO ARE YOU?

And isn't it cool that we are all in this place together? Who'da thunk it just twenty years ago?

On your mark, get set. GO. C'mon. Don't be shy. No coward's soul is yours.

Hi Maria. I have been reading for quite a while now, but have never commented. Since you want to know who is reading your blog, I decided to answer. I absolutely ADORE your writing style. You are a wonderful storyteller, and a person that I would enjoy knowing in real life. My name is Melanie. I have a 10 year old named Skylar, who is nothing like Liv. My daughter hates all sports, and loathes reading. However, like Liv, she is the greatest child I have ever met, and I am her biggest fan.

Free Chaotic Author.

2) Where do you live and do you like it? (You can be cagey, just say "midwest" or "yankee", etc.)\

I like in Greenville, SC. This is where I was born and raised. I couldn'd imagine living anywhere else. I am lucky to live in the greatest state God has made.

3) What is one of your favorites? (Book, movie, song, quote...you pick)

My favorite book is "The Prince Of Tides" by Pat Conroy. Pat Conroy is my favorite author along with Edgar Allan Poe, Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, and Jusy Blume. That is just to name a few. I am a fan of love stories as far as movies go. I love The Crow, Man On Fire, Steel Magnolias, The Secret Life of Bees, Notting Hill, Top Gun, and Dirty Dancing to name a few. My favorite music can not be narrowed down to just a favorite song. However, I like rock, jazz, swing, blues, some pop, but my passion has always been classical music. A favorite quote of mine is from the book "My Loosing Season" by Pat Conroy, "America is a good enough country to die for even when she wrong".

3. I don't have a favorite anything. There are many things I love a lot, though.

Movie: Love Actually, because I can watch it more than once every 3 years. And it reaches some deep down place where some tiny part of my soul will allow me to believe in love.

Book: What is the What, by Dave Eggers was pretty fantastic. As well as Time Traveler's Wife. There are too many books I like!

Song: Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley. I know that Leonard Cohen wrote it, but his version is so hauntingly beautiful.

2. Suburban Maryland, between Baltimore and Washington. It's fine here - family's nearby and the job is interesting. Like it more than Dallas and less than NYC.

3. Quote: Outside of a dog a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx

Book: Welcome To The Monkey House - Kurt Vonnegut

Album: Blood On The Tracks - Bob Dylan

Movie: Gone With The Wind

1) renaissance-woman wannabe

2) midwesterner happily transplanted to Massachusetts

3) my dad went w/ neitzsche, "what does not kill me makes me strong." my mom tried to hammer home, "if in doubt, throw it out." but i find myself awed by "what would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?"

reading all these responses is fun!

I am a 4-year-old (sense of wonder and whimsy), a 14-year-old (insecurities and uncertainties),and a 24-year-old (full of hope and possibilities), inside the skin of a 64 year old (due to too many years working outdoors and 6 foolish years of tanning beds). All this comprises a 54 year old Hoosier nature-loving lesbian who yearns for the unpopulated coast. Favorite line: the cow jumped over the moon. Favorite movies: The Winter Guest, Chocolat, and The Graduate. Favorite Book: mmm can't decide, so many books so little time. Thank you for speaking to much that is inside of me.

2. Michigan, I like it because my family is here, but it's slowly starting to become an unfriendly states to college students thanks to governor Granholm.
3. "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" is a great book. I know it's a teen novel, but if you're into different types of writing styles this book is a must read. And if you've seen the movie, don't assume you know the book, the book is almost always better.

Look at all these people! It's working! :D I was checking back here to see if I ever left a comment. Guess not.
It seems like I'm never good at these sorts of questions and I never have a quote at the ready either.

I did show your blog to a writer friend of mine once and she pops in occasionally. She told me the other day she didn't believe you were real. It kind of blew my mind that she said that but then she doesn't read ALL the time either. I know you've gotten that before but I am a believer in many things-one of them you. She did agree you are an extremely gifted writer-real or no. teehee :D xo
