What a relaxing weekend. Liv's father, Tinton, had a speaking engagement in Lincoln this weekend and invited her to come stay with him at his swanky hotel. He picked her up after school on Friday and she won't be home until tonight, when he will bring her back and then spend the night to catch his plane back to Colorado tomorrow morning. She called me last night to say goodnight and to tell me that they were "having a blast" going out for every meal and going ice skating and shopping.
Bing and I have had fun, too. Yeah, it has been one non stop sex kitten extravaganza...
Just checking to see if you are paying attention.....
Actually, we have been doing what we love to do most: sleeping in and then getting up to go eat pancakes, laying around and reading, and today we went to a matinee. We saw this. It was lovely, one of those little movies that is gentle and charming. Plus, I got to see shots of London, which reminded me of dear Dive. Bing was less impressed, she dozed off in the middle of it, but said that it was "tolerable." This is about as good as it gets for her if it isn't an action packed thriller.
And now, I am lazy and killing time while Bing's tuna noodle casserole is baking in the oven, so I will do a meme.
This one is courtesy of Cherry Blossoms and Vodka.
1) First thing you wash in the shower.
My hair. With goat milk shampoo/body wash. I am serious when I say that nothing gets my hair and skin softer. Plus, I smell just....very nice. Not goatish at all.
2) What color is your favorite hoodie?
Red. It is one of about five Husker hoodies that I own and wear on game days and any other day when I just want to hang out.
3) Would you kiss the last person you kissed again?
Sure, since it was Bing.Or wait, it might have been that stranger in the theater who came on to me when she was asleep....(just checking to see if you are reading carefully...)
4) Do you plan outfits?
Only my work outfits. If I didn't lay out my clothes the night before, I cannot predict what I would be wearing, since I don't fully come awake until about ten a.m.
5) How are you feeling right now?
Chilly and hungry. I am getting a bit sick of winter's chill seeping into my bones and I am ready for my dinner, Bing. I sort of stamped my foot there, because I am like that.
6) What's the closest thing to you that is red?
A dictionary.
7) Tell me about the last dream you remember having.
God, this is truly embarrassing, but since I already told Bing in the car on the way to the movie today and she thought it was hilarious, I will fess up:
I dreamed that I was on a space ship with Simon from the movie SERENITY. He and I were working on some sort medical breakthrough to help his sister, River, who has psychic powers and is also psycho (you have to see the movie to understand)...anyway, he started coming on to me and kept trying to kiss my neck. I sort of swatted him and told him that he was too young for me and then I figured WHAT THE FUCK? and just let him kiss me. We ended up in River's bed, but weren't doing the nasty or anything, he was showing me this fancy little robot about as big as a lima bean and saying that one day, we would use them in surgeries.
For some reason, Bing thought this was funny. ("You mean you were getting it on with that fey doctor?")
8) Did you meet anyone new today?
Actually, yes. There were two chatterbox women sitting behind us in the theater and I turned around and asked them to please be quiet and they were so apologetic and chatty about it that I wished that I had just let them talk since every time they moved in their seats, one of them would tap me on the shoulder and whisper, "I'm sorry, sweets." Bitches.
9) What are you craving right now?
Tuna noodle casserole, a dill pickle, a soft dinner roll and maybe a glass of diet Dr. Pepper.
10) Do you floss?
Three times a day. I'm 50 years old. I really want to keep my teeth.
11) What comes to mind when I say cabbage?
Takes up too much space in the garden, so I don't plant them anymore.
12) Are you emotional?
Not unless it concerns my child. I am amazingly unemotional in most areas of my life. But, then I watch Liv playing fetch with Socks in the back yard and I start bawling.
13) Would you dance to the taco song?
I have no idea what a taco song is and you don't want to see me dance.
14) Have you ever counted to 1000?
No. I have counted to 10 about a million times, but never more than that.
15) Do you bite your ice cream or just lick it?
My teeth are sensitive to cold and hot. I am a licker.
16) Would you go out to eat with George Bush?
Actually, yes. I would really like to go out to dinner with the older George Bush, though. I have questions, really probing ones...like "Is the Lincoln room at your old digs really haunted?"
17) Do you like your hair?
I have never liked my hair. It is finally starting to grow out again, though and I am grateful.
18) Do you like yourself?
Depends on the day.
19) Have you been in a castle?
Yes. And in previous lives, Bing is convinced that I used to be a pampered princess. ("I can just see you strutting around in some ball gown with all your maids helping you gussy up.")
20) What are you listening to right now?
Not much. Bing has the television in the living room on.
21) Are your parents strict?
They are dead, so not anymore. When I was growing up, they were very strict. We were fined a quarter every time we slammed a door. We were not allowed to hit or pinch our siblings or even call them names, no matter how mad we were. We were expected to get all A's in everything. We went to 7 a.m. mass every freakin' Sunday.
22) Would you go sky diving?
No. My rheumatoid arthritis would make for a very painful landing, I fear.
23) Do you like cottage cheese?
Sure. Just not on my thighs.
24) Have you ever met a celebrity?
Yes. Marlo Thomas. Sonny Bono. Hilary Clinton. Willie Nelsen. Seals and Crofts.
25) Do you rent movies often?
No. Bing and I can never agree on them. We will go to the video store and then meet to choose a movie. In my hand will be choices like "A Room With a View", "Sense and Sensibility" and "Chariots of Fire." She will have either a James Bond movie, an Arnold Schwartzie movie or some idiotic Bruce Willis movie about dying hard. Neither one of us is good at compromising.
26) Is there anything sparkly in the room you are in?
Just my sizzling personality.
27) Have you made a prank phone call?
No. But Bing does ALL THE TIME. And I fall for them ALL THE TIME. She will call me at work and and when I answer the phone, she will say something like, "Hello. My name is Martha Prudence and I have a child who I think is possessed by Satan. Can I bring him over and have you take a gander at him?" The really sad thing is that I fall for this shit over and over. I am always unfailingly polite and eventually she bursts out laughing and I call her a shit head and hang up on her.
28) How many countries have you visited?
A few. I would really like to see Ireland.
29) Ever been on a train?
Yes. In larger cities. I have never been on an Amtrak train, though and I have always wanted to do this. I think it would be romantic to sit in a window seat and look out the window at the fields flying by.
30) Brown or white eggs?
Bing knows a teacher at work who has a chicken farm. She brings eggs to school for us. They are always brown eggs.
31) Can you count from backward from 74?
Oh, give me a break.
32) Who sits behind you in class?
You mean at my beginning lap dancing class? That would be Tanya and she is smokin' hot.
33) Do you have a cell phone?
Yes, but I hate it. I only have it in case I get abducted and have to place a call from a trunk.
34) Do you use chap stick?
No, I use Blistex. Very berry.
35) Do you own a gun?
No and if Bing ever brings one home again, she knows that I will once again throw a hissy fit to end all.
36) Can you use chop sticks?
Not well. My daughter learned when she was five and she can wield those suckers like a pro.
37) Who are you going to be with tonight?
Bing, Tinton and Liv. I believe the Grammy Awards are on and so I know they will all be watching. I will be reading my book and looking up now and then.
38) Are you too forgiving?
I can hear Bing choking already. No. I am not too forgiving. I hold grudges better than anyone on the planet. Bing told me once that she felt like she had to hit her knees before I would ever forgive her for anything.
39) Ever been in love?
Yes. Twice. Maybe three times. Only one turned out well.
40) What is your best friend doing tomorrow?
Probably what she does every Monday. Get the kids ready for school and then spend the rest of the day getting stinkin' drunk. Just kidding, Harriet....
41) Ever have cream puffs?
Oh, god, yes.
Hokay...
The tuna casserole is done and Tinton and Liv just pulled into the driveway, so I will wrap this up tomorrow..or so.
G'night. Sleep well, y'all.

I laughed out loud at the prank calls! You know, there's just such a wonderful feeling I get from your posts about your home life. And I could almost smell that tuna casserole - I've been looked for a tried and true recipe as my expatriated American husband has mentioned having one and I haven't the foggiest where to start. Would you mind sharing yours, Maria? :)
I'm convinced there has to be a chop stick gene that has nothing to do with ethnicity. Either you can work those suckers like you were born with them in your hand, or else you're just hopeless with them. I fall under the hopeless category.
I totally forgot I'd ever done that meme! Thanks for the link.
And PS I was totally reading carefully enouch to catch your BS answers ;-)
Yes, you should definitely go to see Ireland. It is a must for a girl of Irish descent.
So glad you had a fun weekend and that Liv was so obviously enjoying hers as well.
Things are improving down here at home too!
Ha ha I like the prank call one... that's great...! Right out of The Simpsons! And number 72 or whatever..the counting backwards... geesh... some of these memes... but...as usual... always great to get to know you better!
Of course we are paying attention Maria. That does sound like a nice relaxing weekend. Jamey and I saw that Dustin/Emma movie and thoroughly enjoyed it. We decided it wouldn't be nearly as good with lesser actors. I thought of Dive as well. I think of Lynn when I watch Clattorford which is a BBC series I borrowed from a friend. I keep meaning to ask her what she thinks of it. I just love it!
Yesterday I was finding blog friends on facebook and I thought "Oh yeah, I'll look for Maria and Terroni. " Then I thought duh. ha!
I love that Bing prank calls you. Hubbz used to call me just to tell me jokes when he knew I was having a bad day and it's a great way to snap me out of a funk!!

I'm going to have to try this goat's milk of which you so enthusiastically speak...
Oh, and be glad I don't have your work number (or your stalker's crazy skills). I would be so tempted to join your partner in the pranking.
Ha ha, funny dream and the prank calls, too! And I was reading carefully enough to catch the non-answers!
Hi Maria,
Good grief that's a lot of questions. i would have thought for sure you had more red stuff than that being a Husker after all. I've got red shirts, sweatshirts, you name it. I even wear a red shirt or sweatshirt every Friday just for good measure.
Best wishes,
Skeeter
Great list, I may have to steal it!
I kept laughing out loud at you checking if we were paying attention. You sounded downright playful Maria. I always pay attention when reading your posts as I would hate to miss even the smallest little gem about your life.
